What The World Needs Now
We’re in the middle of uncertain and stressful times. Within a matter of days (or so it seems) we’ve moved from regular routines to new normals. Phrases like social distancing and self isolation have become part of our daily conversation. You and your loved ones at any time could be feeling frightened, anxious, or confused. And that’s just a few of the many feelings you might have over the next few days and weeks as we enter uncharted territory.
Like so many individuals, small businesses, organizations, families and community groups, Kindness Cookies has been trying to figure out what we can do to offer support, caring and creative ideas during these days and weeks that are yet to unfold.
We’ve always tried to keep things simple and meaningful, so that’s what we’ll continue to try to do. Here’s what you can expect from us.
1. We will not be actively baking, promoting or selling our cookies during the next few weeks. We recognize that this is a time when sending kind messages and treats to others is very much needed! Indeed! But it’s important to us that we help to ‘flatten the curve.’ For that reason we’ve decided to adhere to practices that support social distancing. If you want to send Kindness Cookies to a loved one we ask that you email us directly ~ firstname.lastname@example.org . We’ll get in touch with you personally to see what we can do to help.
2. Our mission of sharing kindness is as important as ever ~ what the world needs now… is a whole lot of kindness. To that end we’ll be posting tips on social media that you might find useful or inspiring as you create new routines and new expectations. There are many incredible ideas out there for families and children, so we’ll select and collect websites and activities that we think are particularly relevant for these unique times.
3. We know scrolling through social media can be overwhelming. Our ideas will be archived on our website so you can find them easily again. We've set up a special page for this: kindnesscookies.ca/pages/kindness-during-covid-19
4. We want to hear from you ~ please stay connected with us on social media. Together we can take care of each other. Tell us your stories. Comment and tag us on Facebook. Or go to our website and open the Kindness Counts page. A dialog box will open and you can join the conversation. Let us know if you or someone you know has some special needs right now. Or perhaps you just want to share some stories of kindness that have made a positive impact on you or someone else. We'll all need some inspiration over the next few weeks. Join the conversation ~ kindnesscookies.ca/pages/kindness-counts
Right now, more than ever, staying connected is very important. Social distancing does not mean social isolation. Please stay in touch - with us and with each other.
